As Krista and I prepare for our new lives of photography and travel, we are becoming anxious to start seeing and documenting all the beautiful places on this amazing continent of ours. We have been endlessly watching videos made by other people going and doing all the things we wish were doing. Then we realized that the only thing that was keeping us from doing it now was the lack of us doing it now.
I have always wanted to travel so I can see, with my own eyes, the stunning views found in pictures from all around the world. I still want to travel but I finally realized that you don't need Grand Vistas or Exotic Locations to find beauty. Beauty is everywhere, you just need to look for it. On this occasion, we looked for it at the Tamarack Nature Center and boy did we find it.
In addition to trails that lead to incredibly picturesque fields of gold, there’s also a really cool play area for the kiddos that includes a hobbit house they can go in, a small man-made river they can build dams in, an area where they can learn to build shelters, and a garden area where they can learn all about how things grow.
So, if you have kids, enjoy nice leisurely strolls in nature with some pretty views, or you are just looking for a peaceful place to get some thinking done, Tamarack Nature Center just might be the place for you. Make sure to leave Fido at home though, Tamarack is not pet friendly.
You will find Tamarack Nature Center about 20 minutes north of downtown St. Paul. The Visitor’s Center and garden close daily at 4:30 but the Discovery Hollow Nature Play Area, as well as all the trails, are open 30 minutes after sunset.
